TAAP Foundation: Our mission is to provide an all-inclusive area to play, learn, and rehabilitate for all ages and all abilities.

Our History

The Tibbetts All Abilities Park Foundation (TAAP) is a grassroots organization that was founded in 2018 by a small group of citizens who identified the significant need for a park in San Juan County that provides access to people of all ages and all abilities. We identified Farmington Municipal School's (FMS) former Tibbetts Middle School property as the perfect location: central enough for the entire area, and large enough to house an all-encompassing park designed to meet the many needs of our extensive community. Our board convinced FMS to donate the property to Farmington, and the city's parks and recreation division worked with the city council to ensure the property becomes an all-inclusive park. The TAAP board began with five passionate individuals and zero dollars; since we became a non-profit in 2020, our 501c3 organization now encompasses twelve volunteer board members and over $1,700,000 in donations.

Our Goals

Create community-driven and valuable properties that provide opportunities for:

  • Play - To create an all-inclusive environment for users of all ages.

  • Rehabilitation - To facilitate a space for rehabilitation professionals (PT, OT, Cadiac) to work with their clients.

  • Education - To cultivate an environment that draws educational programming.

  • Recreation - To support and encourage a variety of all-inclusive recreational activities.

Partner with the City of Farmington and Farmington Municipal Schools to design and execute an all-inclusive park:

  • Utilize the beloved Tibbetts School land with nostalgia and unity within the community.

  • Support building and community structure/processes.

  • Have lifelong grounds and maintenance support.

Provide donation opportunities to promote community involvement and pride in an all-inclusive park with:

  • Sponsorships and Fundraisers.

  • One-time and Continuous Monetary donations.

  • Allowing our sponsors to receive tax deductions by donating to a 501c3 nonprofit.

Vision For The Future

To build a foundation that lives well into future generations, supporting accessibility and adaptability in all areas of community living. The first step is to build one of a handful of adaptive parks that exist across the nation.
